A flower a day keeps cabin fever away...

We have had enough winter weather (yes, yes I know it's only January and I live in Ohio, but I'm tired of it already!) causing my thoughts to turn to flowers, gardens and the warm breezes of spring.
Bring on the gardening catalogs!

On the needles...

This is the beginning of two socks on one set of circulars, magic loop.  The pattern can be obtained here:
I'm hoping I can finish them before spring so my son can enjoy wearing them while it's cold since they are Regia 4 ply wool.

Off the needles....finally!

These Nutkin Fingerless Gloves were knitted for my daughter.  You can get the information here: http://kataish.blogspot.com/2009/10/nutkin-fingerless-gloves.html
It was a fun knit!  You can also do the Nutkin pattern in a sock, which I have started but have yet to finish.
You can find the pattern here http://www.knitzi.com/

Just because...

We are going on a week now of grey skies, fog, snow, freezing rain, 50 degrees one day and 20 degrees the next.  It's Ohio...we're use to it.  That's not to say we like it, but we've come to expect it.  I'm starting to receive gardening catalogs!  Yeah!!!!!  It's almost time to start seeds and get the garden plans under way. So.....until spring gets a bit closer, I have to, I need to......... look back at pictures from springs and summers past.  Doing so eases the cabin fever that takes place this time of year~

Two birthdays Japanese Style

We were honored to celebrate the birthdays of Jessica & Alvin.  We enjoyed a Japanese dinner at Sake followed by cake (very yummy pineapple upside down) & ice cream at Jessica's.

Happy Birthday Jessica & Alvin!

Miss Adelyn

This little one and I had some play time yesterday.  She's sitting up, cooing and gooing, eating homemade babyfood, drinking from a sippy cup and saying something that sounds a lot like "mama".  She's growing (as my granny use to say) "like a weed"

It only takes a minute....

I believe if you have enough to eat, you have enough to give to charity.  Remember those in need in Haiti~

A little can make a big difference...

We've been watching these little guys for a few days.  While in the summer, they are a source of aggravation as they pull up hosta's, tromp through our garden and pluck flower heads, we still enjoy watching them in the winter.  They look at the tray feeder we have for the birds as if to say "throw some goodies over the fence."

Walking in a winter wonderland...

We awoke this morning to a winter wonderland!  A heavy blanket of frost coated just about everything.  We took a walk in the woods which proved interesting as the snow was deep and it was all of 14 degrees.  It did provide some nice photo opportunities.
