This is for you Barbara...we miss you!

We have a little stitching group at our local library. Thank you Nancy for allowing us to meet at the library and providing such a nice place for us to get together.  There is so much creativity and talent for such a small group. There is rug hooking, embroidery, dress making, crocheting and knitting.  There is also a lot cookie consuming, tea drinking and chatting.    We've missed getting together the past two weeks due to snow.  Not everyone was there today so I have only a few pictures.

Miss Ruby...she's working on a dress for this summer.
She also has an embroidery project in the making and an afghan.
She also wants to learn how to knit.  All of her sewing is done on a
treadle machine.

Miss Ruth...she's a rug hooker and has an embroidery project going on as well.
She also is multi-talented! She sews as well and today, was working on
some knitting.

Nothing ornery about these two!

Meet Rachel & Rex....She's the mom of these great kids.  Rex was our cookie tester today~
Rachel is working on not one, but two sweaters!  One for herself and
one for a grandchild on the way.
(don't you love the teapot!)
It belongs to Barbara who is the organizer of our
group.  She's vacationing in New Mexico and we're anxious for her return.

There are several others in our group, but they couldn't join us today.
Hopefully when the weather breaks, everyone will join us again!

Tom Turkey

We live out in the middle of nowhere~  We have 100 acre woods beside us and 95 acres behind us, neither which belong to us.  We're situatuated in the middle of 7 acres.  We've seen a lot of wild life, bucks, does, wild turkey (hens & jakes), snakes, racoons quail and we hear coyotes  (we hear them, but we never see them).  Only one time before have we seen Tom Turkeys.  Today however, they reappeared!  There were two of them but I could only get a picture of one.
This isn't a great picture, but a picture all the same. We have lived here 5 years and I still get excited when I see something unusual or unexpected!

A little blankie in the making~

Having an achey elbow has brought a halt to my knitting for a few days.  I can't stand to be idle for long so I started and finished this cute little blankie for Addy (who has started snorting and raising her dress over her head!)  The blanket is a great size and weight, bigger than a receiving blanket and lightweight.  You can see the tutorial here:  http://piecenquilt.blogspot.com/2009/06/self-binding-receiving-blanket-tutorial.html

See those little teeth!

Happy Anniversary to us!

Happy Anniversary love!

an·ni·ver·sa·ry (n-vĂ»rs-r)

n. pl. an·ni·ver·sa·ries

1. The annually recurring date of a past event, especially one of historical, national, or personal importance: a wedding anniversary; the anniversary of the founding of Rome.

2. A celebration commemorating such a date.

Today we are celebrating our 30th anniversary!  My gosh, when did we get soooooo old?  Thanks much to all of you that wished us many more years!  We're having a quiet celebration at home because this weekend is not the time to go out for dinner unless of course you want to wait a ridiculous amount of time to eat so-so food.  Last night from our kitchen,  we dined on bacon wrapped scallops, parmesan potatoes and salad.  Tonight we're having filet mignon and I've haven't decided the sides just yet.  I am making a blackberry cobbler for dessert.  The hubs picked the berries this past summer and they have been waiting in the freezer for the perfect occasion.  Today is that day!
One day this week, providing the incoming snow storm doesn't keep us at home, we're going to have lunch at PF Changs, spend some time at Barnes & Noble and hit the coffee shop.

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!

Lots of snow, lots of knitting.....

The little booties were so much fun to knit! I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino on size 2's.  It is so soft and very nice to knit with.

You can find the pattern in this book.  This is such a nice book for baby knits.

Miss Adelyn was not in the mood for a photo shoot yesterday, so no pictures of her in her booties.  Maybe another day....

Let it snow, let it snow, let it STOP ALREADY!!!!!!!

We're on the tail end of a winter storm!  Our county is under a level 3, meaning stay off the roads or risk getting a ticket.  We have about a foot of snow and on top of that, today we're suppose to have high winds and temperatures in the single digits.  It's a good snow for snowball fights and snow people building...only problem being, it's too cold to do either!  The hubs has been out since 8:00 am plowing the lane.  We're not going anywhere, we're not expecting anyone.....I'm thinking he justs like to play in the snow~
