what a way to pass the day~

on saturday
we,
(the hubs and i)
spent
the entire day
going from one
antique store
to
another
in the antique capitol
waynseville

i'm always amazed at how neat
and orderly some of the booths are~

my favorite
booths
are those
that arrange everything
by
color

i found and purchased
a little pair of sterling silver
pickle-olive tongs
i'm thinking they had really
little
pickles way back when
as these tongs are very
small
i didn't buy them for pickles....
or for olives...

   i  plan on using them for sugar cubes

~perfect~

can she really be 14?

 it's hard to believe
~you ~
have reached
the 14 year milestone
in just those few
short years
you have accomplished much
ahhhh,
but so much more is yet to come
so many first to come your way
such as
proms
school trips
driving
dating
that very first job
shopping trips with girlfriends
and
so
 much
 more
we  are so happy to have been
a part of your past
and to be
a part of your future
~~~~~~~
~happy birthday abby~
it's a jeep thing...
~jeep~
it's a girl thing
i drive a red jeep that
looks much like this
one
only
much
much
smaller!
we were driving by car lot and low and behold
A GIGANTIC JEEP
the black jeep that it is teathered to
looks like a
match box car
Projects from sticks and string
~our library has a knitting group~
we meet every tuesday for several hours
of knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, embroidery,
and whatever project you want to work on
we also enjoy homemade goodies, tea and companionship
~nutkin handwarmers~
this is my second pair of these
i really like the pattern, but i'm truly ready
to be done with these and to move on
to other projects
~a baby sweater~
miss Ruth is doing such a fantastic job
on this little sweater
truth be told, she does a fantastic job
on anything she attempts
and always has the most joyful smile
on her face
~a tiny doll bed blanket knitted using crochet thread~
this tiny treasure is being worked by Megan
she is 10 years old and has the ability to
knit or crochet most anything!
she is home schooled making it possible for
her to join our group
~a toddler sweater~
rachel, ruthie's mom whipped up this toddler sweater
for her new grandson
she too, is multi talented with
thread, needle, hook and
great conversation!
tuesday.....knitting day, is one of my favorite
days of the week, not only because
i get to spend several hours working
on a project
but
because i get to spend time with
some really great folks
A Day for the Irish~
~our St. Patricks Day celebration began with a dinner
of corned beef, potatoes and carrots, a side of
oven roasted cabbage (a new recipe from Martha...soooo yummy!)
and soda bread~
~we then headed to the library for a chocolate tasting~
there were stories for the children, a shamrock hunt,
musical chairs, a wonderful sense of
community and the most amazing chocolate
goodness~
~it just doesn't get any better than a entire table of homemade goodness~
~shamrocks & tophats~
~the hubs playing musical chairs~
no, he didn't win, despite the fact
he just may have pushed a small
child out of the way in a attempt
to get a seat~
* just kidding*
~all in all it was a great day of green and
I leave you with my favorite Irish prayer~
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm
of his hand~
Happy St.Patricks Day!
A Trip to the Art Museum
this big pup met us as we walked through
the door at the art institute
i'm thinking every little kid who walked through
the door wanted to have a seat on him
for some reason, if it's a rainy, dreary day,
I want to head to the art institute
it's quiet and peaceful and
there is beauty and inspiration all around
even the wrought iron is pretty
And they just kept coming...
We live in the sticks.  We see our fair share of wild life..... deer, raccoons, turkeys, an occasional fox, snakes...you get the picture.  Last night we had the company of more deer than we have ever seen at one time.  They came slowly and dined on grass (which we haven't seen in several weeks), played a little bit and then moved on.  We counted 32, they moved on and then 10 more came across.  There were a few young ones (teenagers) kicking and running, but not one buck!  I think they know the hubs doesn't hunt, so they are safe to stop by have dinner on our yard.
At first, just a few.....
Then a few more...
Then something spooked them and they all took off!
Congratulations Ashlie Barker BSN RN
Yesterday, this girl became a nurse!
She is one of those lucky people who has always known what she
wanted to be when she grew up and by golly, SHE DID IT!
With honors no less!
We have watched her grow from a teenager to
a young lady, graduate from highschool and move on to college,
the transition from a single gal to a married lady,
from dorm dweller to apartment renter to home owner and now from a
student to a nurse!
Congratulations Ashlie!
